My wife and I are flying to Dubrovnik in August for one week. We'd like to stay at a hotel that is right on the beach...preferrably with a balcony looking out onto the beach. Does anyone know if such a hotel exists in the Dubrovnik / Hvar / Brac areas? How about other Croatian beaches?

Excelsior is a fantastic but pricey hotel just above a wonderful Banje beach in Dubrovnik. Babin Kuk and Lapad area of Dubrovnik has several beachfront hotels, like Hotel President for example.
I can also recommend Elaphusa hotel in Bol on the island of Brac and Berulia hotel in Brela near Makarska. Brela, for me, has the most beautiful beaches in Croatia. They are pebbly but incredibly beautiful.
